Safari

Safaris and excursions can be organized directly at the center easily and quickly. It is not necessary to do so before your arrival at the center.

Lake Nakuru

Transportation: 290€ return - 3.5 hours' drive (rate to be divided by number of people, maximum 8 per car). To be paid in cash (shillings) at the center before the safari.

Park admission: $60 to $70 (depending on the season), payable by credit card by clicking here (account creation required).

Various information: departure from the center at 3:30 a.m., packed breakfast (provided by the center), lunch on site (Nakuru Lodge). Opportunity to see all African animals except the elephant. Bring plenty of water. Possibility of running in the evening on the way home.

Lake Baringo

Transportation: 250 (to be divided by the number of people, maximum 11).

Admission and boat hire: approx. €100 (divided by the number of people, maximum 6).

Safari options: giraffe island (€10 per person), Maasai village visit (€50 for the group), snake experience (€10 per person).

Additional information: 2.5-hour drive, boat safari (tour lasts approx. 4 hours on the lake), island hopping, lunch at the lodge on site, breakfast at the center, departure between 6 and 7 a.m., suitable footwear, sufficient water, sun cream and/or rain gear.

Mount Elgon (4222 metres)

Transportation: 250 (to be divided by the number of people, maximum 8). Approx. 5 hours' drive (3 hours on road and 2 hours on trail).

Park admission: $26, payable by credit card by clicking here (account creation required).

Distance and time: approx. 8 km hike (including outward and return journey). Possibility of seeing animals: buffalo, zebra, elephant (rare), monkey, antelope, etc. Lunch is packed lunch, breakfast is taken at the center.

Recommendation: bring warm clothing, rain gear, water and food for the hike. Fairly technical route, especially at the end: be in good physical condition, wear good shoes and be aware that the summit is over 4,000 meters above sea level (possible dizziness/headaches).

Various excursions

Kessup Waterfall

Transport and guide : 60 (to be divided by the number of people), about 15 minutes' drive by matatu.

Miscellaneous information: hike of around 4 kilometers, including the outward and return trips, possibility of bathing in the waterfall, steep ascent then descent, bring plenty of water, pretty viewpoint at the top of the cliff, possibility of running there with Japhet.

 

Torok Waterfall

Transport and guide : 80 (to be divided by the number of people), about 35 minutes' drive by matatu.

Further information: approx. 8 km hike, including outward and return trips, possibility of bathing in the waterfall, easy route (only if you do the outward and return trips), bring sufficient water, in the heart of magnificent scenery.

Kiptabus Primary School

Travel : school located next to the center, walking distance, no expenses.

Other information: It is not necessary to bring school supplies such as notebooks, pens, etc. from France. Schoolchildren already have them. To help them: go to the school and ask about their exact needs (furniture, food, specific materials) or take part in the charitable actions we set up throughout the year according to their requests.
